Half Pints Brewing Company was born in the summer of 2006.
As an idea, we were certainly different than the others before us. Start small, grow slowly, and above all else, make great beer. It’s an idea that now seems commonplace, but at that time, was a departure from the norm.
As we grew, we added more members to our family, many of whom are still with us today.
Our focus is still:
Quality not Quantity.
Our beer has won awards, been traded worldwide, written about by a multitude of writers, and is sought out by beer lovers.
Regardless of our growth, we start with ideas for great beer and brewing first. We’re beer geeks at heart and are willing to try pretty much everything and anything just to prove we can do it.
After 10 years, we’re still here flying the flag of independent craft beer in Winnipeg.
Hopefully, you’re along for the ride.
President and CEO
Dave once dressed up as a clown to perform at children’s birthday parties.
His favourite beer is Little Scrapper IPA.
And, curiously enough, Dave is related to General George Armstrong Custer.
Chris used an “Old Vienna” (O.V.) branded wallet for 10 years.
Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster Garret Oliver once put his arm around Chris (for a photo).
Chris’ fastest recorded beer mile time is 6:39, done with 4 Stir Stick Stouts.
Zach got in a fist-fight in the bathroom during an Oktoberfest in Munich.
He once described “Westy XII” as tasting of “O-Pee-Chee” gum.
While at the Grove, Zach once bought Blake Wheeler a pint of Little Scrapper Cask Ale.
Since starting with Half Pints in 2013, Kerry has sampled over 650 different beers.
If given enough time to Google it or make a spreadsheet, Kerry can answer any question.
Kerry has two favourite beer styles: fruity wheat beer and stouts.
Josh’s grandfather was born in Transylvania.
Somewhere on his body, Josh has a tattoo of a slice of Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza.
Josh took the cookie from the cookie jar.
Cellar Master/Assistant Brewer
Jan almost blew his face off when he opened a tri-clamp on a pressurized keg. (He has the scar to prove it!)
Sometimes, Jan wishes he was employed at a juice-box factory, but is very happy to be working in Manitoba’s growing brewing industry.
Jan is always the designated driver at Half Pints Christmas parties.
For Brandon, Hell is other drivers.
When he isn’t delivering your beer, you’ll probably find him riding his bicycle.
Brandon is currently researching how to deliver beer via drone, but doesn’t want to put himself out of a job.
Tim was the first delivery driver in Half Pints’ history to drive a brand new delivery truck.
On vacation in San Francisco, Tim got a personal tour of the Anchor Brewery.
Not once has Tim ever bottled a beer while working for Half Pints.
Warren’s favourite beer style is the IPA – the more hops, the better!
In his spare time, Warren enjoys anything with two wheels, from bikes to motorcycles.
At his peak, Warren held down 5 different bartending jobs.
The first beer that Matthew ever had was a pint of Guinness, from a one hundred year old pub in Dublin.
Once, Matthew placed 4th in a national Scrabble tournament.
Somewhere out there, there is a children’s book based on him.
Hailey’s favourite Half Pints beer is St. James Pale Ale, because she’s from St. James.
She is working on a study on whether talking to yeast cells politely promotes faster growth.
Hailey usually caps at 3 beers.
Eli has traveled to countless countries in search of Black IPAs… and other beers.
Eli has enjoyed a Little Scrapper IPA while running and hiding from a polar bear in Churchill, MB.
Eli lost a Half Pints hoodie in taxi cab in Guadalajara, Mexico.
